The team at Emmerson Critchley Ltd is extremely proud to be involved in this project, which is now underway. We have been assisting with building this scout hut in Horringer (near Bury st Edmunds, Suffolk). We have applied a therma Lime over hay bales. Due to the inconsistency of the bales we will need to apply more coats of lime in due course.
The new hut, which is of a timber-framed construction with a cedar shingle roof and utilising low impact materials in keeping with its surroundings including straw bale insulation and lime rendered external walls, will serve local scout, brownie and guide groups as a meeting venue. Owing to the fact that, once completed, it will also provide a WC, shower room and kitchenette, it will also enable the field in which it is situated to be used for camping activities – a function that is not currently possible owing to lack of facilities.
Once completed, the project team is also keen that the hut serves as a wider community meeting venue resource for the local community for events and clubs.
The whole Emmerson Critchley Ltd team is delighted to support this project, which will ultimately be a community resource that will benefit so many people. Read more
